RADICI DEL SUD 2018: Native wines meet the finest restaurants
On Monday 11th June 2018 in Sannicandro (BA) the thirteenth edition of the Exhibition devoted to wines from native grapes and oil produced in South Italy which can now be bought. Seven chefs closing the event with their dishes
Radici del Sud, the week devoted to the enhancement of wines made from native grapes and oil of South Italy, will end on Monday 11th June at the Castle of Sannicandro di Bari with the thirteenth edition of the Exhibition of South Italian wines and oils. Following a week of tastings, press tours, meetings with buyers and Italian and foreign journalists, 100 wineries among those joining the event will meet the visitors at a big tasting bench. From 11a.m. to 9.00 p.m. visitors will be given the opportunity to taste their wines and even to buy them.
On the second floor of the castle you’ll find the area devoted to food specialties. Five artisan businesses will show their products and from 1p.m. to 3.00 p.m. they will offer a real catering service so as to allow the visitors to best enjoy their day having a satisfactory break.
From 7.00p.m. to 8.00 p.m. in the castle library the conference “Native wines and restaurants: identity challenging international markets” will be held. For some time now the identity of South Italian vineyards has had restaurants as precious allies both in Italy and abroad. This theme will be discussed by the presidents of the partner associations: Assoenologi, AIS Puglia, Onav Puglia, Aepi, Vinarius as well as by the International press writers and buyers joining the week event. The prize giving of the winning wines of the competition thirteenth edition will follow.
From 9.00 p.m. onwards, when the Exhibition closes, the event will move to the castle courtyard where visitors will taste all the 300 competing wines as well as the 20 oil labels. During the evening the dishes of seven chefs from South Italy will be served on the subject “More health and food saving”. Giacomo Racanelli of Aromi Bistrot in Sannicandro di Bari (BA) will propose rice croquette with sivoni vegetables and sauce of black pig waste; Riccardo Barbera of Masseria Barbera-Minervino Murge (BT) will present whole wheat Strascinati pasta with mussels, zucchini flowers and tops; Peppe Zullo from Orsara di Puglia (Fg) will prepare maccheroncini made with red lentils, aubergine sauce, aubergine chips and mint; Mirko Balzano of Triglia Restaurant in Avellino will make half-cut candele with onion and lamb; Giovanni Ingletti and Cosimo Russo of La Taverna del Porto in Tricase (LE) will serve anglerfish liver, ferrovia cherries and red onion of Acquaviva. And then Mariantonietta Santoro of Il Becco della Civetta in Castelmezzano (PZ) will propose her sheep made “alla materana”in Pignata pot.

Propapilla Association’s main goal is to promote the territory and to enhance the Apulian wine and food culture, arranging tastings, competitions, meetings and festivals.
In particular through Radici del Sud, the association aims at celebrating and giving visibility to food and wines produced in South Italy, stressing the deep ties to the territory.
Moreover, though the three published guides devoted to pizza restaurants, restaurants and wines, it yearly updates and monitors the food and wine panorama of Apulia, Basilicata, Campania, Calabria and Sicily.
